About Doctor

• Dr Vasudevan K.R. is a gastroenterologist and transplant surgeon. He was part of the first team that performed live donor hepatic transplant between 2004-2007.
• His experience amounts to over 1200+ donor liver transplants during which he had many innovative ideas that contributed to the advancement of this treatment modality.
• Dr Vasudevan trains teams within India and SAARC countries to initiate their own liver transplant units.
• Live liver donor transplantation, laparoscopic surgery of liver and pancreas and robotic surgery are among his primary interests.

Qualifications

Experience

• Surgical gastroenterologist trained at one of India’s best hospitals and since has had accelerated career progression to role of leading a team over a short span of 12 years.
• Established and sustained a liver transplant program at PSRI over last 2½ years. He was selected for this role considering his experience with over 1200 live donor liver transplants. He established the clinical, para-clinical and support teams required for the service.
• He trained a team in a government hospital in Gambhat, Pakistan to develop their liver transplant program through regular frequent visits. This team now independently performs 8-10 liver transplants every month.
• 2015 Sept – 2016 Dec: Senior Consultant, Jaypee Hospital department of surgical gastroenterology and liver transplantation. Set up a department from ground up in association with a junior Coleague. In the 1st year 50 liver transplants were performed.
• 2012-15: consultant at Sir Ganga Ram hospital New Delhi in the department of surgical gastroenterology and liver transplantation were performed. In addition to leading a unit in the department, he was the academic coordinator and a guide to DNB fellow.
