Biography

Dr. Arvinder Singh Soin is one of India’s most respected and experienced liver transplant surgeons, currently serving as the Chairman of the Liver Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine department at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram.

He is widely recognized for playing a major role in establishing liver transplantation in India and has over 21 years of experience as a liver transplant and hepatobiliary surgeon. Over the course of his career, Dr. Soin has performed more than 2,500 liver transplant surgeries and over 12,000 complex procedures involving the liver, gall bladder, and bile duct, with an impressive success rate of around 95%.

His areas of expertise include treating conditions such as liver cancer, cirrhosis, bile duct cancer, gall bladder cancer, biliary stricture, liver cysts, liver metastases, and biliary atresia. Patients from across India and around the world trust him for handling even the most complex liver cases.

Dr. Soin completed his surgical training in the UK and earned a Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Edinburgh. Before joining Medanta, he worked as a Senior Consultant in transplant and hepatobiliary surgery at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, as well as at leading hospitals in the UK. He has also served as a Senior Consultant at AIIMS, New Delhi.

At Medanta, he helped build one of Asia’s first dedicated institutes for liver transplantation, which is now considered among the leading centers globally for liver care.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to liver transplantation in India, Dr. Soin was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri by the President of India in 2010.

He is also an active member of several renowned medical organizations, including the Association of Surgeons of India, the British Transplantation Society, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the Indian Society of Organ Transplantation.
